o   Indian president Pranab Mukharjee Visited 3 nations. His visit includes Jordan, Palestine and Israel.

  •  In Jordan he met King Abdullah-II Ibn Al Hussein at the Hashemite     Kingdom of Jordan. The visit was the first by an Indian President to Jordan

  • In Palestine Mr Mukherjee met his counterpart Mahmoud Abbas, besides Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah
  • In Israel Mr Mukherjee interacted with President Reuven Rivlin and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and addressed the Knesset, the Israeli parliament.

o    Marlon James, a Jamaican novelist has been conferred with the prestigious Man Booker Prize 2015 for his novel "A Brief History of Seven Killings" which is inspired by the attempted assassination of Bob Marley in 1970s.

o    Ministry of Women and Child Development had notified the revised ‘Guidelines for Governing Adoption of Children'.
    • The revised guidelines along with the new IT enabled adoption system - CARINGS, will provide a transparent process of adoption under which all the child care institutions of the country have been brought into an integrated system. The Ministry has also simultaneously started country-wide workshops to enable child care institutions understand the new guidelines and work under the new IT environment.

o    14th October 2015 - World Standards Day / International standards day.
o    The World Standards day was started in 1970, and is now celebrated by nations throughout the world.
o    The aim of World Standards Day is to raise awareness among regulators, industry and consumers as to the importance of standardization to the global economy.
o    This day honors the efforts of the thousands of experts who develop voluntary standards within standards development organizations such as the
International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC)
,
International Organization for Standardization (ISO),
International Telecommunication Union (ITU),
Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)
and
the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF).

o    World Standards Day 2015 Theme : Standards – The World’s Common Language

o    Tamil Nadu government has banned the use of a non-steroid anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) Ketoprofen, which is used extensively for veterinary purposes. 
    • This step has been taken to save critically endangered vultures in the state.
o    PM Narendra Modi made an announcement that the process of declassification of files relating to Netaji will begin on 23rd January 2016, Netaji's birth anniversary.
o    The Govt also requested foreign Governments to declassify files on Netaji available with them.
o    PM shall begin this with Russia in December 2015.
o    Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission’s (UPPSC) Chief Anil Kumar Yadav was  removed from his post following Allahabad High Court’s verdict.
o    Country’s prestigious Missile Complex in Hyderabad was renamed as Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Missile Complex by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar
o    The landmark event took place at Research Centre Imarat on 15th October 2015 which is the 84th Birth Anniversary of Dr Kalam, known as the Missile Man.
o    Dr Kalam had joined the complex, which is under the Defence Research and Development Organisation, in 1982 and was part of it for nearly two decades. 
o    It comprises the
Advanced Systems Laboratory (ASL),
Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL) and
 Research Centre Imarat (RCI) which is considered to be the brain child of Dr Kalam.
o    As founder director, Dr Kalam conceived and steered RCI as a generator of critical missile technologies.
o    P S Jayakumar took charge as the new MD and CEO of the state-owned Bank of Baroda for three years. He was the former chief executive of VBHC Value Homes.
o    He replaced S S Mundra, who moved to Reserve Bank of India as deputy governor in July 2014.

o    Oscar-winning composer Allah Rakha Rahman will be honoured with the Hridaynath Mangeshkar Award in Mumbai on October 26.
    • Veteran filmmaker Subhash Ghai will present the fifth Hridaynath Award to Mr Rahman on the birth anniversary of Pandit Hridaynath Mangeshkar, younger brother of legendary playback singers Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle.
o    The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, today gave its approval for the Revised Cost Estimate (RCE) of Rs.2904.04 crores for the Kaladan Multi Modal Transit Transport Project in Myanmar.
o    The project will provide an alternate access route to the North-Eastern region of India and contribute towards the region's economic development. Being a key connectivity project, it will promote economic, commercial and strategic links between India and Myanmar.
