IMPORTANT CURRENT AFFAIRS OF NOVEMBER 28, 2015

  • Hewlett-Packard (HP) giant IT company issued its final quarterly earnings on 24 November 2015 before it being split into two companies viz. HP Inc and HP Enterprise.
    • Meg Whitman - President and Chief Executive Officer of Hewlett Packard Enterprise;
    • Pat Russo -  Chairman of Hewlett Packard Enterprise Board
    • Dion Weisler - President and Chief Executive Officer of HP Inc.;
    •  Meg Whitman - Chairman of the HP Inc. Board. 
    • HP was established in 1939 by Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard in a garage owned by Packard. The company is headquartered at Palo Alto, California.

  •  In an important development, the cricket boards of India and Pakistan agreed to play a short bilateral cricket series in a neutral country from 15 December at a neutral country Sri Lanka

  •  5 investment banks were on 26 November 2015 chosen to manage the government’s proposed 10% stake sale in state-controlled Coal India Limited (CIL). they are:
    • SBI Capital,
    • ICICI Securities,
    • Axis Capital,
    • JM Financial
    • Kotak Investment Banking

  • M.S. Dhoni has become the Brand ambassador of Dubai-based hospitality and event management company Grand Midwest Group for three years.

  • HSBC Holdings Plc is shutting its private banking unit in India, marking the exit of another foreign bank from the cut-throat wealth management business in Asia's third-largest economy.
    • Banks including Royal Bank of Scotland and Morgan Stanley have sold their onshore India private banking units in the recent past, as part of their global business restructuring.

  • The government has extended the usage criterion of the RuPay debit cards in order to avail of the in-built insurance cover from 45 days to 90 days.

  • Canara Bank has tied up with the Navodhan Charitable Foundation in its efforts for timely detection of cancer as a part of its CSR drive
    • CSR - Corporate Social Responsibility.

  • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on 26 November 2015 permitted the Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPI) to buy fully or partly defaulted bonds in the repayment of principal on maturity or principal installment in the case of amortising bond.

  • World Robot Olympiad (WRO), 2015 was held in Doha, Qatar from 6 November to 8 November 2015.
    • WRO 2016 will be held at New Delhi.

  • First International Day and Night Test match has been started between Australia and New Zealand from 27th November 2015 to 1st December 2015 at Adelaide Oval at  Australia
