  • The Maldivian government has declared the state of emergency for 30 days in the nation, giving sweeping powers to security forces, after arms and explosives were found at the country’s capital as well as at an island resort Today.

  • Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta has resigned after mass protests. Ponta is the country's only sitting premier who was facing a trial for corruption, and he was already under pressure to quit from the political opposition and President Klaus Iohannis, who defeated him in last November's presidential election.
  • The Union government has announced Rs 10,000-crore road and bridges development projects for Nagaland alongwith committing a slew of road projects for the entire North-East in five year period.

  • The Maharashtra Government has approved a revised scheme APJ Abdul Kalam Amrut Yojna, for pregnant and lactating women in the tribal areas of the state. The scheme aims at providing at least one full hot cooked nutritious food to every pregnant lady and lactating mother.
  • The Meghalaya High Court has asked the Centre to consider enforcing Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958 (AFSPA) in militancy-hit Garo Hills region in the state to help the administration restore the rule of law.
  • Forbes magazine has released the list of world’s most powerful persons for the year 2015. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been ranked as the world's ninth most powerful person in a 2015 list which is topped by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

  • Justice T S Thakur will be the next Chief Justice of India. He would succeed Justice HL Dattu as the next Chief Justice of India. He will take over as the CJI after Justice Dattu retires on 2nd December2015.
  • Academy Award-winning British actor and screenwriter Colin Welland (81) passed away.  Welland is best known for his screenwriting in "Chariots of Fire," which went on to win the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay in 1982.
  • Indian boxer Shiva Thapa attained 2nd position in International rankings in the 56-kilogram category. Shiva was placed second with 1550 points in the 56kg category, up five places from the previous list. The top spot was occupied by Irishman Michael Conlan (2150 points), who won the gold medal at the World Championships.
  • Former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik has announced his retirement from Test cricket. Now he will play only in the One-Day International (ODI).

  • Applications for buying sovereign gold bonds of Govt. of India are being accepted from 5 November 2015. Sovereign gold bonds will be issued by the Reserve Bank of India. They will carry the market value of particular amount of gold it is issued. If the price of gold increases the value of the bond will also go up, thus benefiting investors.
    •    Investors can buy a minimum of 2 units or 2 grams and a maximum at 500 grams per fiscal year. Investors will get a fixed rate of interest of 2.75% per annum (payable every 6 months) on the initial value of investment.
    •  The bonds have a maturity period of 8 years, with exit option from the fifth year. Holdings can be redeemed in multiples of one gram.
  •  The Odisha Government and Ministry of Railways entered into a historic agreement on 4 November 2015 that is likely to lay the track for the first railway line to reach one of India’s most backward districts with district of Nabarangpur of Odisha, which is often described as “District Zero” by the media.
  • World Economic Forum’s (WEF) India summit was inaugurated by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley at New Delhi on 4 November 2015. Participants from across various fields engaged in an intense one-day dialogue during the summit.

  • US-based gaming company Activision Blizzard will acquire King Digital Entertainment, the creator of the iconic Candy Crush Saga, for $5.9 billion, as disclosed on 3 November 2015
