1. On 9th September (2nd Saturday of September) isWorld First Aid Day.

a.   The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) introduced World First Aid Day in 2000.

b.   Theme of World First Aid Day 2017 :  ‘First aid and road safety’.

2. On 9th September is the Day of the Foundation of the Republic of North Korea.

a.   The Democratic People's Republic of Korea was established in the North was established on this day (9th September) in the year 1948.

4. The Louvre Abu Dhabi museum is opening on Saadiyat Island in November, 10 years after the project was announced. 

a.   Note : Abu Dhabi gave France $525 million (around ₹3,360 crore) for using the "Louvre" name, and $750 million (around ₹4,800 crore) to employ managers from France to oversee 300 loaned artworks.

6. Union Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar On 9th September announced that the government will undertake a 'School Chalo Abhiyan' from next year to enrol 70-80 lakh students in the country who are out of schools.

7 In a new 5-tier classification of worlds, US-based scientists have categorised Earth as a hybrid between Class IV, where life-forms have started affecting planetary-scale changes, and Class V, where it would be affected by advanced life-forms. 

a.   Note : They denoted Class I as atmosphere-less worlds, Class II as lifeless planets with atmospheres, and Class III, where life-forms haven't altered the planet.

8.   Pakistan On 9th September opened its 5th Nuclear power plant to meet its growing energy demands. 

a.   The country will receive a major energy boost as the "new plant will generate 340 MW of electricity", Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi announced at the plant's inauguration.

10.    The Unique Identification Authority of India's (UIDAI) CEO Ajay Bhushan Pandey was given additional charge of interim Chairman of the Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN). 

a.   Note : He is going to replace GSTN's first Chairman Navin Kumar, who has completed his term on August 29. 

11. US President Donald Trump has nominated Indian-American Manisha Singh asAssistant Secretary of State for Economic and Business Affairs.

12.     Reliance Infrastructure controlled Reliance Defence and Engineering Ltd (RDEL)has changed its name to Reliance Naval and Engineering Ltd (RNEL).

a.   The change of name is in line with the company’s focus on building capabilities for the Indian Navy and Coast Guard, it is learnt.

13.   Ride-hailing startup Uber On 9th September announced it has launched its biggest 'Greenlight Centre' in India, located in Bengaluru. 

a.   The centre is a 15,000 square feet facility dedicated to provide assistance to Uber driver-partners. 

14.  According to a study by apex industry body Assocham, Karnataka has been ranked top among the states in the country in terms of manufacturing excellence.

15. Public-sector banking company headquartered in Mangalore, Corporation Bank has bagged “SKOCH Award for MUDRA Performance - 2017” and “SKOCH Order-of-Merit Award for A Road Map to be Best in Insurance Penetration” instituted by the SKOCH group for 2017-18.

16. Indian squash player Harinder Pal Sandhu won his 21st international game on the trot and his fifth consecutive title, winning the Malaysian Squash Tour X event in Kuala Lumpur On 9th September.
