5. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj inaugurated the 2-sided bust of Mahatma Gandhi,
titled "Birth of Satyagraha" at the Pietermaritzburg
railway station where 125 years ago Mahatma Gandhi decided to
fight against injustice and colonialism.
6. Indian Naval Ship (INS) Sunayana successfully completed the Operation NISTAR,
which was initiated to rescue 38 Indian Nationals from cyclone-hit Socotra
island in Yemen under swift Humanitarian and Disaster Relief Operation
(HADR).
7. Rajinikanth starrer 'Kaala' became the 1st
Indian film to release in Saudi Arabia, months after the
kingdom opened a cinema for the first time in 35 years.

President Ram Nath Kovind
has declared the Queen variety pineapple as
state fruit of Tripura.

Note : Tripura is one of the largest pineapple growing states in

9. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has declared the
state open-defecation free after achieving the goal of
constructing 2.77 lakh individual toilets.
10. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced
that it will set up a Public Credit Registry (PCR) as a
repository of information regarding loan information of individuals and
corporate borrowers.

11. The UK, France, Germany, and EU sent
a joint request to the United States to exempt
European companies from the sanctions imposed on Iran.

Note : The US reimposed sanctions against individuals and entities
conducting trade with Iran after it withdrew from the 2015 nuclear deal.
12. The UK's Financial Conduct Authority has fined state-owned Canara
Bank's UK division £896,100 (₹8 crore) for
breaching anti-money laundering laws.

the bank from accepting new deposits for nearly five months.
13. Andhra Pradesh is set
to become 1st state in India to use Auto-Disable
Syringes for all clinical purposes to prevent infection.

15. The former deputy governor of the Reserve Bank of India
(RBI), R Gandhi, has joined the board of Electronic Payment
Services (EPS) as Independent Director.
16. The Haryana government has issued a
notification directing sportspersons employed with the state to
pay 33% of their income earned professionally and through
commercial endorsements to the state sports council.

17. India began their campaign at
the 2018 Asian Junior Athletics Championships in Gifu,
Japan, with a strong start , clinching four medals, including a gold.

18. Playing in her 74th T20I, Indian cricketer Mithali
Raj became the 1st-ever Indian woman cricketer to reach
2,000 runs in T20I cricket as India defeated Sri Lanka by seven
