Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a 3 day
visit to Japan.
a. Modi visited
his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe in the
Yamanashi Prefecture and discussed various issues.
b. He has also
visited the automation and robotic firm FANUC in the industrial city facing
Mount Fuji.
c. During this
visit, modi will attend the 13th Annual India-Japan Bilateral Summit.
d. Focus areas
of 13th India Japan Bilateral Summit : To boost
cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region, carry out joint infrastructure projects
in third countries and enhancing defence ties, including launch of talks for a
logistic support pact between the two navies.

In a recently held referendum, Ireland voted to
remove the offence of blasphemy from the constitution, with
64.85% of the voters supporting the move.

Pakistan's Supreme Court today reintroduced the ban on airing
Indian movies and TV shows on local channels, overturning an earlier
verdict by the Lahore High Court (LHC).
a. The Pakistan
Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) had imposed a complete ban on
airing Indian content on local television and FM radio channels in 2016, which
was revoked by the LHC.

(28th October 2016) is National Ayurveda Day.
a. Ayurveda is
the oldest healing science. It orginated in India more than 6000 years ago.
b. The literal
meaning of Ayurveda is "Knowledge of Life".
c. To celebrate
this day, the Al India Institute of Ayurveda in collaboration with Ministry of
AYUSH organised a programme titled ‘Run for Ayurveda’.

The Central Pollution Control Board has advised
people in Delhi to avoid strenuous outdoor exercises
like jogging or running between 1st to 10th November 2018, as the air quality
in the city is expected to deteriorate.
a. Toxic fumes
from stubble burning in Punjab and Haryana as
well as localised emissions during Diwali could contribute to the deterioration
in Delhi's air quality.

hear the pleas in Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute.

Inc topped the list of World's Most Valuable Companies 2018.
a. Software
giant Microsoft has reclaimed its spot as the world's
second most valuable company by overtaking e-commerce giant Amazon.

According to International Air Transport Association
(IATA)'s 20- year air passenger forecast report, India will
be among the top three aviation markets by the year 2024.
a. Note : India is
currently at 7th position in Global Aviation market.

The Indian railways announced its plan to
build world’s highest railway line titled Bilaspur-Manali-Leh
Line.
a. The projected
cost to construct the 465 km line will be Rs 83,360 crore.
b. This new line
will link New Delhi and Ladakh and will run
along the India-China Border.
10.Swiss digital technology
company ABB today announced it's investing $150 million to
build a new factory in Shanghai, China, where robots will
make robots.
a. The
75,000-square-foot factory will produce robots for China as well as for export
elsewhere in Asia.

batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul received the Honorary
Doctor of Laws by the University of the West Indies.
a. Chanderpaul's
international career spanned over two decades in which he played a record 164
Test matches.

44-year-old scored 11,867 runs, including 30 centuries, at an average of 51.37
runs per innings.
14.Delhi's former Chief
Minister Madan Lal Khurana (82) passed away.
a. The BJP
leader served as Delhi's CM from 1993 to 1996 and briefly as the Governor of
Rajasthan in 2004.

Service officer, Sanjay Kumar Mishra took charge as
the Interim Director of Enforcement Directorate (ED).
a. He has
replaced Karnal Singh, whose tenure ends today (28th October
2018).
b. Mishra will
be in this post for 3 months or until the appointment of a regular chief.
16.India's Sourav
Kothari defeated Peter Gilchrist of Singapore to clinch the 2018
WBL World Billiards Championship title in England today.
