A 2-day National Seminar on Entrepreneurship and
Business Development in Ayurveda began in New Delhi today.
a. The seminar,
which will conclude on Ayurveda Day tomorrow, has been
organised by the AYUSH Ministry.
b. Minister of
State for AYUSH Shripad Yesso Naik and Minister of State for Culture and Environment and
Forest Dr. Mahesh Sharma addressed the inaugural session
c. Nearly 800
participants from across the country are expected to take part in the seminar.

To encourage use of solar energy in irrigation by farmers, the Odisha Government
has launched Saura Jalnidhi scheme.
a. Under this
scheme, farmers will be given 90% subsidy and 5,000 solar pumps.
b. This will
provide irrigation benefits in 2,500 acres of the state.

The Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government
is planning to construct a 495-foot Lord Ram statue in
Ayodhya.
a. The statue is
likely to be built on the banks of the Saryu river.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Dastoday
announced that the state government is going to provide mobile
phones to 28 lakh farmers of the state.
a. The state
government will provide mobile phones to 28 lakh farmers in the coming budget
to get rid of corruption and provide transparency.

Bollywood Actor Anupam Kher has been
honoured with Distinguished Fellow Award at the 3rd
India Global Summit held at MIT Sloan School of Management in Boston.

Pari Singh, a 22-year-old year girl from Jharkhand, headed
the Australian High Commission for a day.
a. She got the
opportunity after winning an annual programme held to mark the United
Nations' International Day of the Girl Child.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Micro,
Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Support and Outreach Programme.
a. As part of
this programme, PM unveiled 12 key initiatives which will help
the growth, expansion and facilitation of MSMEs across the country.

To enable seamless booking of unreserved tickets including
season tickets and also platform tickets all over Indian Railways, the Union
Ministry of Railways has launched Unreserved Mobile
Ticketing facility (UTS on Mobile).
a. This will
remove the need for passengers to wait in queues for purchasing the tickets.
b. UTS on Mobile
aims to promote three C’. They are :
i) Cashless
transactions (Digital payment)
ii) Contact less
ticketing (no need to physically visit the point of sale)
iii) Customer
convenience and experience

The world's largest neuromorphic supercomputer SpiNNaker,
which was designed and built to work like a human brain,
has been switched on for the first time.
a. Made up of
one million processors, SpiNNaker can complete over 200
million-million actions per second.
10. Maharashtra state
cabinet approved plan for conversion of Indian Navy’s longest-serving aircraft
carrier INS Viraat, into India’s first-ever moored
maritime museum-cum-marine adventure centre.
a. At present,
INS Viraat is at Mumbai’s Naval dockyard after it was decommissioned (retired)
in 2017.
11. Oscar winning
musician A R Rahman's biography "Notes of a Dream:
The Authorized Biography of AR Rahman" was recently launched.
a. This book has
been authored by Krishna Trilok.
12. Bank of
Maharashtra's board today restored the functional responsibilities of MD
and CEO R P Marathe and Executive
Director R K Gupta.
a. They were
reinstated after the police decided to withdraw cases against them.
b. Note : They were
divested of their responsibilities in June after being arrested by the Pune
Police in the alleged over ₹2,000 crore DSK Group
fraud case.
13. Indian
professional cricketer Ambati Rayudu has retired from 1st-class
cricket to focus on 50-over and T20 cricket.
a. The
33-year-old batsman scored 6,151 runs in 97 matches in his 18-year first-class
career but couldn't find a place in the Test side.
