India has been ranked 102nd out of 117 countries
on Global Hunger Index 2019.
a. Important
Note : India is the 2nd lowest-ranked among the South Asian
countries, with Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal ranked 94th, 88th and 73rd
on the index.

rank : 103rd

Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived
in UAE on a ‘historic visit’.
a. Sheikh
Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the
UAE Armed Forces received him at the Presidential Airport.
b. The two
leaders later witnessed the signing of several agreements and memoranda of
understanding between the UAE and Russia.
c. The
agreements span various vital sectors, including trade and investment, and
sustainability and environment, intending to develop strategic partnerships
between the UAE and Russia further.
d. Note : This is
Putin’s first visit to the UAE after 2007.

US President Donald Trump will host
the 2020 G7 summit at the Trump National Doral golf resort
in Florida.
a. Note : The summit
will take place next year from June 10 to 12.

Karnataka has emerged as the most innovative major state, as
per the NITI Aayog's 1st-ever India Innovation Index 2019.
a. This index
aims to aid policymakers in designing the economic growth policies for their
regions.
b. Tamil
Nadu and Maharashtra ranked 2nd and 3rd
respectively.
c. Among cities
and union territories, Delhi topped the list.
d. Bihar and Jharkhand stood
last in the index.

In Madhya Pradesh, the 10th edition
of the Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav-National Cultural Festival is
being organized by the Union Ministry of Culture under the 'Ek Bharat,
Shreshtha Bharat' campaign.
a. The National
Cultural festival will display diverse forms of folk, art and culture of 22
states.
b. The concept
of National Cultural Festival was conceived in the year 2015.
c. So far, the
Ministry of Culture has organized nine such Festivals.

The National Council of Educational Research and
Training (NCERT) in its latest guidelines announced that no child in
pre-school aged between 3-6 years should be made to give written or oral exam.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has increased
the withdrawal limit for depositors of scam-hit Punjab &
Maharashtra Cooperative (PMC) Bank to 40,000 rupees from
25,000 rupees per account over the next six months.
a. This is the
3rd time the regulator has increased the withdrawal limit since its clamped
down on the bank on September 23.

Bangladesh has become the 2nd-fastest growing economy in South
Asia after Bhutan.
a. World Bank in
its report 'South Asia Economic Focus, Making (De) Centralization Work'
released today says that GDP growth rate of the country is projected to
moderate to 7.2 per cent this fiscal year and 7.3 per cent in 2020 in
Bangladesh.

The term of Bank of Baroda's CEO and MD PS
Jayakumar, leaving both the positions vacant at the state-run
bank.
a. Jayakumar,
who was first appointed to the positions in 2015 for three years, received a
year-long term extension in 2018.
b. Note : Dena Bank
and Vijaya Bank had merged with Bank of Baroda during Jayakumar's tenure.
10.The State Bank of
India (SBI) re-entered the Top 10 most valued domestic firms
in India by their market valuation.
a. Two weeks
earlier, the bank lost its tenth spot to Bajaj Finance in the list. At the
close of trade on Monday, SBI's market capitalisation stood at ₹2,27,979 crore, higher than the ₹2,25,080-crore
market capitalisation of Bajaj Finance.

India has become the 1st airline in the world to use
a Taxibot on an A-320 aircraft with
passengers on board.
a. Taxibot is a
robot-used aircraft tractor for taxiing an aircraft from parking bay to runway
and vice-versa.
b. Air India

12.The Assam government
will be hosting a 2-day stakeholders' meeting between India and Bangladesh from
22nd of this month in Guwahati.
a. A 70-member
delegation from Bangladesh, including two Central ministers and two advisors of
the Prime Minister, will be participating in the meet.
b. A similar
top-level team from India, including Union ministers, will represent the host
nation.
13.Internationally acclaimed
painter of Bangladesh Kalidas Karmakar (73) passed away
today.
a. An icon of
modern art in Bangladesh, Kalidas was awarded Shilpakala Padak in 2016 and the
Ekushey Padak in 2018 by the Government of Bangladesh for his contribution to
fine arts.

giant Oracle's co-CEO Mark Hurd (62)
passed away.
a. Hurd was
appointed as co-CEO in September 2014. "
15.Actor Bill
Macy (97), who featured in 1972 American TV series 'Maude'
passed away.
a. Macy is known
for his role in series like, 'Seinfeld' and 'One Big Family', among others.
16.India's 1st
visually impaired woman IAS officer Pranjal Patil assumed
charge as the Sub-Collector of Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram.
a. Patil had
secured 124th rank in UPSC exams in 2017.
17.The 2019 Sveriges
Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences (Nobel Prize in Economics 2019)
in Memory of Alfred Nobel has been awarded to Kolkata-born American
economist Abhijit Banerjee, his wife Esther
Duflo and American development economist Michael Kremer.
a. The trio won
the award "for their experimental approach to alleviating global
poverty."
18.Prime
Minister Narendra Modi has become
the 1st world leader to cross 30 million followers on Instagram.
a. He is
followed by former US President Barack Obama and US
President Donald Trump, who have 24.8 million and 14.9
million followers, respectively.

producer Priyadarshan was conferred with the Madhya
Pradesh government's National Kishore Kumar Samman for 2018-19
at a function in Khandwa.

22.NASA astronauts Christina
Koch and Jessica Meir successfully
concluded humanity's 1st-ever spacewalk with only women.
a. The two women
worked for over seven hours in the vacuum of space to conduct International
Space Station's maintenance.
b. With this,
astronaut Meir also became the 15th woman out of a total of 228 spacewalkers.
23.The Indian government is
aiming to build the world's largest facial recognition system, as
per a 172-page document released by the National Crime Records Bureau.
a. The aim is to
create a centralised database of faces to help catch criminals.
24.Former Indian cricket
captain Sourav Ganguly has been unanimously nominated
as the new President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India
(BCCI).
a. He said besides
Ganguly, BCCI members have also unanimously selected Jay Shah as
Secretary and Arun Dhumal as Treasurer.
25.Justice
Sharad Arvind Bobde has been recommended by Chief Justice of India
(CJI) Ranjan Gogoi to succeed him.
a. He headed the
committee that investigated the sexual harassment allegations against CJI Gogoi
and was a part of several benches for cases like the Aadhaar case and Ayodhya
dispute.
b. He was part
of the bench that suspended the sale of firecrackers in the National Capital
Region.

platform TikTok has appointed Nikhil Gandhi as
the Head of TikTok India.
27.Indian shuttler Lakshya
Sen clinched his maiden BWF World Tour title by winning the Dutch
Open men's singles at Almere in the Netherlands.
28.In Women's cricket, India won
the 3rd and final ODI against South Africa by 6 runs at
Vadodara.
29.The ICC has
decided to readmit Zimbabwe and Nepal as its
members following the conclusion of the Board meeting in Dubai.
a. Zimbabwe were
suspended in July this year following government interference in the running of
the Board.
b. Nepal were
suspended in 2016 for breach of the ICC regulations which prohibit government
interference and require free and fair elections.
30.Mumbai opener Yashasvi
Jaiswal has become the youngest ever cricketer to slam a
double hundred in professional 50-over cricket.
a. Jaiswal, aged
17 years and 292 days, smashed 203(154) against Jharkhand in Vijay Hazare
Trophy.
b. Note : The
previous record was held by ex-South African batsman Alan Barrow,
who hit a List A double ton aged 20 years and 276 days.
31.Royal
Challengers Bangalore (RCB) RCB appointed Navnita Gautam as their Sports
Massage Therapist, becoming the 1st Indian Premier League team to have
a woman in the support staff.
a. She will work
to identify and implement massage therapy to help the team prepare and recover
better.
