The 18th Shanghai Corporation
Organization (SCO) summit concluded on 10th June at Qingdao, China
with the adoption of the Qingdao declaration.
a. The Quingado
declaration calls for implementing a 3-year plan to combat
terrorism, separatism and extremism.
b. It also
calls for implementation of the treaty on long-term good neighbourliness,
friendship and co-operation.
c. Note :
It was India and Pakistan’s first summit as full members of SCO grouping.

Island nation Mauritius is
going to host the 11th World Hindi Conference (विश्व हिंदी सम्मेलन) in
its capital city Port Lois from 18th to 20th August
2018.

Kerala Government has
decided to lift high alert issued in the wake of outbreak of
deadly Nipah virus in May 2018 in northern Kozhikode and
Malappuram districts of state that has so far claimed 17 lives.
a. The
outbreak of virus has been brought under control and its spread checked as no
positive case has been reported.

India will get its 1st
national police museum in Lutyens Delhi.
a. The
museum, which will depict the history of central and state police forces, will
come up as an underground facility in the premises of the National Police
Memorial.
b. It will
be inaugurated on Police Commemoration Day, which is held
on October 21.

The government has opened 10 joint
secretary-level posts for private sector employees,
who neither require to be an IAS officer nor UPSC qualified to be eligible for
the job.
a. The
openings spread through major ministries including Finance and Agriculture.

Inline with Union Government’s Digital India
Initative, the Union Ministry of Railways has launched Rail
MADAD Application to expedite and streamline passenger
grievance redressal.
a. MADAD - Mobile Application
for Desired Assistance During travel

8 states and 4
Union Territories have signed MoUs with the Union Health
Ministry to implement the government's ambitious scheme Ayushman
Bharat - National Health Protection Mission.
a. The
eight states which signed the MoUs include Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Jammu
and Kashmir and Uttarakhand.
b. The
Union Territory of Chandigarh is among the four UTs.
c. Aim of
Ayushman Bharat : To provide a cover of five lakh rupees per family annually to
ten crore vulnerable families.

The Council of Scientific &
Industrial Research (CSIR) lab has signed Memorandum of Agreement
(MoA) with RAASI Solar Power Pvt Ltd for transfer of
technology for India’s first Lithium Ion (Li-ion) Battery project.
a. The
agreement was signed by CSIR’s Central Electro Chemical Research Institute
(CECRI), Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu.

Public Sector Banks collectively
suffered a net loss of ₹87,357 crore in
2017-18.
a. Note :
Punjab National Bank (PNB) posted the highest loss of nearly ₹12,283
crore.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has
asked payment services firms to provide fortnightly updates on
action taken by them to store transaction data in the country.
a. Note : RBI
on April 6 mandated all payment companies to store user data only in India and
ensure compliance within 6 months.

Tata Power today
announced that it has bagged the contract for setting up a 150-MW
solar project in Maharashtra.
a. The
company’s subsidiary Tata Power Renewable Energy (TPREL) has bagged the
contract and will sign a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with MSEDCL.

Brazilian tennis great Maria
Bueno (78) passed away after a battle with mouth cancer.
a. Bueno
was a former top-ranked player who spent most of her career on
the court before the professional era.
13.
Bandhan Bank has
appointed former Reserve Bank of India’s Deputy Governor, Harun
Rasid Khan, as the non-executive, part time Chairman for
a period of three years with effect from June 2018.
a. Note : Khan
retired as the deputy governor of RBI in July 2016 after nearly 38 years of
service.

Arvind Saxena has
been appointed as the acting chairman of the Union Public Service
Commission (UPSC) from June 20.
a. Saxena,
a 1978-batch Indian Postal Service officer, will take over the charge from
incumbent Vinay Mittal who completes his term on June 19th.

Former NIA chief Sharad Kumar has
been appointed as the Vigilance Commissioner in the Central
Vigilance Commission (CVC), New Delhi for a term of four
years.

Professor Hasan Askari Rizvi took
charge as the caretaker chief minister of Pakistan’s
Punjab Province.
17.
S Ramesh has been appointed
as the new Chairman of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs
(CBIC).
a. He will
replace the present chairman Vanaja N. Sarna who retires in
June 2018.
18.
The National Payments Corporation of
India (NPCI) recently presented the National Payments
Excellence Awards for the year 2017. This is the highest recognition
in the banking industry for exceptional performance in payments system.

Sahakari Bank has been awarded for its excellent performance

20.
India’s football team captain Sunil
Chhetri became joint second highest international goal
scorer among active players along with Argentine superstar
footballer Lionel Messi.
a. He
achieved this feat after he scored his 64th goal in
match between India and Kenya in Intercontinental Cup summit clash in Mumbai,
Maharashtra.
