Sardar VallabhBhai Patel Jayanti

                                          Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel 
                                  Born: October 31, 1875 Died: December 15, 1950 
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was born on 31 October, 1875, in a farmer's family in Naiad, Gujarat.
His father, Zaverbhai, had served in the army of Jhansi ki Rani, and his mother, Ladbai, was a deeply religious woman. Vallabhbhai's initial schooling was in Gujarati.
After his schooling, he went to England for higher studies. In 1913 after studying law there he returned back to India as a barrister.
Vallabhbhai was married to Zaverbai in 1891. The couple had two children-a daughter Maniben, born in April of 1904, and a son Dayabhai, born in November of 1905. Zaverbai died in January of 1909.

·         On the issue of call drops “The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI)” announced new norms on 17 October 2015.
Under this, mobile users will get a compensation of Re 1 for every dropped call, subject to a maximum of three dropped calls a day. These norms were, however, vehemently opposed by the telecom operators. The norms are to come into effect from 1st  January 2016.

Some details about Payment Banks

Payment Banks

1.  The objectives: To further financial inclusion by providing (i) small savings accounts and (ii) payments/remittance services to migrant labour workforce, low income households, small businesses, other unorganised sector entities and other users.
  1. Activities: Acceptance of demand deposits. Payments bank will initially be restricted to holding a maximum balance of Rs. 100,000 per individual customer.
  2. Issuance of ATM/debit cards. Payments banks, however, cannot issue credit cards.
  3. Payments and remittance services through various channels.
  4. BC of another bank, subject to the Reserve Bank guidelines on BCs.

  • November 26 will be marked as Constitution Day.
    Significance of Day: On 26 November 1949, Indian constitution was adopted by the 389 member Constituent Assembly (CA) and it came into force on 26 January, 1950. 
      The date of 26 January was chosen to commemorate the Purna Swaraj declaration of independence of 1930.The  Constituent Assembly took two years, eleven months and seventeen days  to complete task of drafting the Constitution .  On 29 August 1947, the Constituent Assembly set up a Drafting Committee under the Chairmanship of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar to prepare a Draft Constitution for India. Chairman of the Constituent Assembly was Dr. Rajender Prasad.
