Italy bans unvaccinated children from school.
a. All parents
have been warned not to send their children to school unless they've been
properly vaccinated, while children under the age of six can be
turned away altogether.
b. Parents could
be fined up to €500 if they send unvaccinated children to school.

Venezuela's parliament declared a 'state of alarm' as the
power outage entered its fifth day.
a. Venezuelan
President Nicolás Maduro has blamed
the US for the blackout, claiming it attacked its main hydroelectric plant in
Guri.
b. The lack of
electricity has affected the water and food supply and also left patients
without proper treatment in hospitals.

Indian lender HDFC Bank Limited (Housing Development
Finance Corporation) crossed the ₹6 lakh crore market
capitalisation mark for the 1st time today.
a. With this,
the bank has became only 3rd Indian company to achieve the milestone.

Industries (With market value of ₹8.50 lakh crore)
ii) TCS (With market
value of ₹7.50
lakh crore)

India has banned Boeing 737 Max aircraft from
its airspace from 4 pm today, following the fatal crash of a plane of the same
type in Ethiopia on Sunday, which killed all 157 people on board.
a. Note : China,
Indonesia, South Korea and Mongolia have
already grounded their fleets of Boeing's 737 MAX 8 aircraft in response to the
Ethiopian Airlines crash.

Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma, who holds the
finance portfolio, presented the budget of 2019-20 in the ongoing assembly
session today with a fiscal deficit of 1323 crore rupees, which is around 3.65
per cent of the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP).
a. As per the
budget estimates for 2019-20, excluding borrowings, the total receipt stood at
14463 crore rupees.

India, which is the world’s largest consumer of gold,
ranked 11th in Gold Holding, according to
recently released World Gold Council (WGC) Report 2019.
a. The current
holding of India has been pegged at 607 tonnes.
b. The top spot
is occupied by the United States with Gold reserves of 8,133.5
tonnes, followed by Germany with 3,369.7 tonnes.

The United States has begun building parts for
a new ground-launched cruise missile after suspending the Intermediate-Range
Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty.
a. The Cold
War-era pact banned both the US and Russia from using short and medium-range
missiles.
b. The US has
suspended its obligations under the agreement, accusing Russia of violating the
treaty.

Private Sector Lender Axis Bank today
appointed Rakesh
Makhija as Non-Executive Chairman for
a period of 3 years.
a. He is going
to replace Sanjiv Misra when his term ends on July 17.

Defence Ministry has initiated the process to appoint the
next Navy Chief and the decision is expected to be announced
soon.
a. The incumbent
Navy Chief, Admiral Sunil Lanba, is scheduled to retire on
May 31 this year.
b. Note : As per
seniority of the Navy, Vice Admiral Bimal Verma is the
senior-most among the top three officers of the force.
10.Former Manchester United
manager Louis van Gaal (67) has announced his
retirement from football.
a. In his
managerial career, Van Gaal won one Champions League, four Dutch
league titles, two La Ligas, and one Bundesliga
title.
11.The 38th GeeBee
Boxing Tournament was recently concluded at Helsinki,
Finland.
a. India has won
1 Gold, 4 Silver and 3 Bronze medals in the tournament.
