The 5th round of Foreign Office Consultations
between India and Mexico were held
in New Delhi.
a. The Indian
side was led by Secretary (East) Vijay Thakur Singh and
Mexican side was led by Deputy Minister of External Affairs of Mexico Julián
Ventura Valero.
b. During the
consultations, both the sides reviewed the entire gamut of bilateral
cooperation, including political, trade and economic cooperation.
c. Both sides
underscored the need to hold a regular dialogue in these areas through the
established bilateral mechanisms.

The 87th Anniversary of Indian Air Force (IAF) is
being observed today.
a. The force was
formed on 8th October 1932 with a strength of six RAF-trained
officers and 19 air soldiers.

Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has launched a
unique initiative called 'Ganga Amantran' to connect with the
stakeholders of the river.
a. It is a
pioneering exploratory open- water rafting and kayaking expedition on the Ganga
river to begin on coming Thursday and will continue till 11th of next month.
b. The
expedition will start at Devaprayag and culminate at Ganga Sagar covering the
entire stratch of over 25,000 kilometres of the River.

63rd Dhammachakra Pravartan Din is being
celebrated today at Deekshabhoomi in Nagpur (Maharashtra).
a. Buddhist
followers from the different parts of the country and abroad gathered at the
venue to pay homage to the Architect of Indian Constitution Dr. Babasaheb
Ambedkar at Deekshabhoomi.

Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today announced that India will
provide additional $236 million line of credit to Mongolia beyond
the committed $1 billion for setting up its 1st oil refinery.
a. The 1.5
million tonnes per annum refinery is being built at a cost of $1.25
billion.
b. The line of
credit was announced during PM Narendra Modi's visit to Mongolia in 2015.

A 3-day India International Cooperative Trade Fair will
be held in New Delhi from 11th of this month.
a. The
first-ever such fair is aimed at promoting cooperative to cooperative trade
within India and abroad leading to enhanced rural and farm prosperity.
b. This will be
India's first and the largest international cooperatives trade fair promising
to usher in a new era of cooperative excellence.
c. The fair is
expected to evolve a conducive environment for co-operative trade in the global
arena.

The government today set up a 19-member
Inter-Ministerial Co-ordination Committee (IMCC) to ensure better
coordination among various departments and law enforcement agencies to curb
money laundering cases.
a. The committee
will be chaired by the Revenue Secretary Ajay Bhushan Pandey.

International Astronomical Union's Minor Planet Center has
announced the discovery of 20 new moons around Saturn,
bringing its total known moons to 82.
a. The ringed
planet has now surpassed Jupiter, which has 79 known moons, as the planet
with most moons in the solar system.
9.
The 2019
Nobel Prize in Physics has been awarded with one half
to James Peebles for theoretical discoveries in
physical cosmology and the other half jointly to Michel Mayor and Didier
Queloz.
a. Mayor and
Queloz received the prize for discovery of an exoplanet orbiting a solar-type
star.
b. The 2018
Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded for inventions in laser physics.
10. Titan
Company today announced the retirement of its MD Bhaskar
Bhat after about 33 years of service in the company.
a. The position
has been taken over by CK Venkataraman, who was the CEO of
Titan's jewellery division since 2005.
11. England have
appointed Chris Silverwood as their new head
coach across all formats, replacing Trevor Bayliss.
